Let's Make Some Vegetarian Pasta Sauce

If you think a tomato is a fruit, don't put it in a fruit salad. Make this vegetarian pasta sauce instead. Cross over the traditional cultural boundaries!

A vegetarian pasta sauce don't need to be all that complicated. You complicate your sauce with fatty cholesterol laden junk, your body will revolt on you.

vegetarian pasta sauce made with garden tomatoesA vegetarian pasta sauce is as simple as fresh Marinara sauce made from garden tomatoes with fresh garden herbs. It can be your base sauce for your pasta needs.

This one is downright simple. Have some herbs growing in your garden? Throw them right in there and let the flavors simmer away together!

Those marinara pasta sauces that come in cans are okay, but it's even better if make them yourself from real fresh tomatoes with garlic and herbs. If you happen to make more than you needed, just freeze them for a rainy day.

Making your own sauces means that you don't have to worry about labels and expiration dates plus you're safe from all that BPA scare contamination issues.

No more buying cans of puree with possible BPA contamination. This sauce is special. They're from the organic backyard garden. Just imagine all that Lycopene action going on in there!

If you have a summer backyard garden and you planted tomatoes, chances are you'll have a cartload of these juicy veggie in your hands. So you need to make some vegetarian spaghetti sauce unless you wanna have a garden tomato salad everyday all summer long!

In this process, where you have to crush and puree fresh tomatoes, a super cool Blendtec Total Blender, FourSide Jar does an amazing job.

So here's what we have:

  • You guessed it: fresh garden tomatoes
  • a whole yellow onion cut in four sections
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • fresh oregano leaves also from the garden
  • fresh rosemary from there too
  • a handful of sweet basil - yup, from the backyard also
  • a handful of Italian parsley - ditto, from the garden as well
  • a little bit of salt to your liking
Put your High Speed Blender to work and it should puree the tomatoes, spices and herbs (all of the ingredients) together with just a push of a button.

The whole process should be done within minutes and you get your fresh vegetarian or vegan pasta sauce. How easy is that?

You can simmer this mixture in the pot until it thickens to your liking. If you are a raw food vegan, this can be your sauce for your zoodles too! You know, that zucchini pasta that raw vegans rave about? This vegetarian vegan spaghetti sauce is perfect for that.

It's clean tasting. The taste of real fresh tomatoes and herbs is comforting knowing that they're real and fresh. This has become a favorite vegan pasta sauce in my home. It's versatile.

TIP: You can saute a couple of cloves of garlic in a little oil, pour the puree and simmer. An extra garlic flavor makes this sauce even better!

You can even make it your base sauce for vegetarian lunch ideas, like toasting a piece of bread, put the sauce on it and a little cheese if you're a lacto vegetarian and you got some simple lunch!

Smother it on a pizza dough, top it with veggies and you get yourself a vegetarian pizza.  The possibilities are endless! The sky is the limit of what you can do with it so make a lot and freeze them.

Making a vegetarian pasta sauce this way beats the store bought tomato puree that's been dead long ago with possible BPA contamination.

Absolute recommended tool to puree the fresh tomatoes and herbs together: A High Speed Blender.
