Mixed Berries Smoothies - Antioxidant and immune system booster.

We've heard it over and over again about antioxidants. So, where do we get it? Well, consume some mixed berries smoothies often!

You can't go wrong with mixed berries smoothies. They are jam-packed with nature's powerful vitamins and minerals that boost the immune system.

The delicious blend of berries has potent disease fighting properties and giving you the energy you need while satisfying your beastly craving for sweets. 

Berries are 'berry' good for your health! Buy them when they're in season like they're going out of season. Freeze them for your mixed berries smoothies.

Blueberries boast a lot of super powers in terms of nutrients and phytonutrients. These little blue gems are big in anthocyanins which give them their purple-blue color. Blend them into a berry shake rather than putting them in waffles.

Strawberries are in the game too. They give you a megadose of vitamin C and they're excellent in phytonutrients like all other berries. Strawberries are best in the Spring and summer but you can always freeze them when they're abundant.

Cherries are known for anti-inflammatory effects acting as a pain killer in arthritic people. They also contain melatonin - a vitamin that helps you get a good night sleep. Besides their Vitamins A, C & E they also have magnesium, iron, and potassium.

  • 6 to 7 frozen or fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup of frozen or fresh pitted cherries
  • 1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
  • 2 -3 frozen or fresh bananas
  • 1 cup ice water or just water and ice
  • add a tablespoon of peanut butter (optional but makes it so good)

If you have a high speed blender you'll get the best soft serve dessert. It's preferable to use frozen fruits to achieve the ice cream-like consistency resembling soft-serve. A high speed blender can really do a great job.

Put the liquid first in the blender and follow with the berries and the bananas. Blend in high speed. Pour in a nice glass of your choice.

Want it icy? Put the smoothie in a container and freeze for about an hour and scoop in a glass for a delicious frozen fruit dessert.

Icy, frothy, fruity and very yummy! Who wouldn't want a dessert err... meal that's guilt-free?
